JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Software Applications Engineer at DSP Concepts, you will be at the forefront of enabling world-class audio experiences for our automotive and consumer electronics customers. You’ll work directly with leading brands to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our technologies. This customer-facing role involves technical support, problem-solving, and software development, helping customers successfully integrate, debug, and optimize their audio applications.
This is not a research role. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about seeing their ideas come to life in real-world, shipping products.
This position is located in Detroit, MI. You will be initially working from home, but in the future we may establish an office and require you onsite. Exceptional candidates will be considered anywhere in the US.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Provide expert technical support for customer Audio Weaver integrations via remote assistance, online forums, and on-site visits when necessary.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues, including real-time operating systems, Linux, and Android environments.
- Develop enhancements to our DSP solutions, making them easier to integrate and debug for customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their success from development to product launch
- Act as the voice of the customer, advocating for their needs within internal engineering teams.
Product & Engineering Contributions
- Serve as a lead Audio Weaver user both internally and externally via new feature testing, bug identification, and providing valuable product feedback.
- Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including technical guides, application notes, and reference designs.
- Develop technical materials, including reference audio processing designs, to enhance customer understanding/learning.
- Lead Audio Weaver training workshops for customers and partners.
- Support and encourage knowledge transfer to the internal engineering team when applicable/appropriate
Business & Industry Engagement
- Conduct technical demonstrations to support business development opportunities.
- Represent DSP Concepts at trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
- Travel to customer sites (up to one week every two months, both domestically and internationally). Requires a valid passport and the ability to travel.
- Support global customers across multiple time zones, occasionally requiring adjusted working hours (Europe and Asia).
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Product teams to drive customer success.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software development and real-time systems.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in C, MATLAB, and Python for real-time embedded development.
- Experience with Linux and Android, including drivers, board support packages, and hypervisors.
- Strong background in source code control systems and industry-standard software development practices.
- Hands-on experience in automotive or consumer electronics audio applications engineering.
- Ability to debug and optimize real-time embedded software.
- Passion for learning new technologies and applying them effectively.
